This is a side event to the 2021 Global Forest Observations Initiative (GFOI) Plenary organized by the World Bank Group and supported by the GFOI Office.

The purpose of this event is to present the current challenges to estimating carbon stocks and dynamics via innovative technologies and to emphasize the need for extensive, in-situ data collection for calibrating remote-sensing datasets and Artificial Intelligence models.
